DHA and EPA from algae oil
NUI Omega 3 is a food supplement with the omega-3 fatty acids DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). Both come from the oil of the microalga Schizochytrium. The daily dose of 2 softgel capsules contains 500 mg DHA and 16 mg EPA. One pack holds 60 capsules (47 g) and therefore lasts about 30 days.
Omega-3 from the microalga
Schizochytrium is a microalga. The oil in the capsules comes from it; NUI Omega 3 contains no fish oil. The focus is clearly on DHA: 500 mg DHA come with 16 mg EPA. There is no nutrient reference value (NRV) for DHA and EPA, which is why the nutrition table shows a dash in the percentage column. The statements the EU has authorised for DHA and for EPA and DHA, and the daily intake from which they apply, are listed further up on this page. We use exactly these and no others.
Softgel capsule with a starch shell
The list of ingredients names only two components: the capsule shell made of starch and the oil of the microalga Schizochytrium, which provides DHA and EPA. As the product contains neither fish oil nor gelatine, it is vegan. According to the label, the capsule contains no anti-caking agents and no preservatives.
How to take the capsules
Take 2 capsules daily with a meal. This is what the label says. Do not take more, as the recommended daily dose must not be exceeded. At 2 capsules a day, a pack of 60 capsules lasts about 30 days.
